I am Farmer Steph

& My Passion Is Helping KIDS & SCHOOLS GROW

I’m a third-generation flower farmer, certified Life Lab garden educator, and single mom who founded Farm to Table Kids after my son Joey recovered from stage 4 cancer. Since 2017, over 1,500 children have joined me in the garden through our award-winning FTTK Summer Farm Camp.

My work spans from coastal Maine to Las Vegas, partnering with schools, nonprofits, and families to create beautiful, productive gardens that grow more than just food — they grow confidence, connection, and joy.

Stephanie McDonough, Life Lab School Garden Educator.

Certified Life Lab Garden Educator

Let’s revive your soil, your structure, and your school community.

“From garden layouts and curriculum design to staff training and activation strategies, I bring new energy to school gardens nationwide. I’d love to support your school’s growing goals.” - Farmer Steph,
Founder, Farm to Table Kids LLC.

Transforming Gardens into Classrooms

Since 2009, Farmer Steph has been designing and growing gardens across Maine and beyond — from restaurant gardens in Bangor and South Portland, to thriving school gardens, to large-scale wholesale operations. She meets each client where they are and helps set both plans and roots for a successful, lasting garden program.

Client Spotlight:

🌿 Maine Coast Waldorf School (Freeport, ME)
In 2023, Steph designed and grew the onsite gardens at the Maine Coast Waldorf School, where she also hosts FTTK Summer Farm Camp. Once the school year begins, the gardens transition to the care of teachers and students for continued hands-on learning.

🌿 Alexander Dawson School (Las Vegas, NV)
In 2021, Steph partnered with the Alexander Dawson School to reimagine their garden program from the ground up. She conducted a full diagnostic — refreshing soil, redesigning layout, updating curriculum, and activating teachers and students. The result: a revived garden that became the heart of their outdoor learning program.

Why It Matters:
Optimizing school gardens for both production and classroom activation is one of the most powerful ways to bring garden-based education to more children. With over 15 years of farming with kids, Farmer Steph has seen gardens of all shapes and sizes — and knows how to help each one flourish.
